FreshBuzzer is a service that provides additional functionality for your existing apartment buzzer 💥

Most intercoms use the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to call your cellphone or landline when someone rings your doorbell. Some however are hardwired into the building and have some kind of receiver plugged in your wall that ring. The latter doesn't have a phone number and unfortunately therefore doesn't work with FreshBuzzer.

If you do receive your buzzer calls on a public phone number, FreshBuzzer will work in your building - and without any hardware modification!

So what exactly does FreshBuzzer offer that you don't get with most existing intercoms? Lets break it down into different categories.

While your existing intercom does call you, it most likely has two major limitations. #1 it won't call more than one phone number - that's a bummer when you don't live alone. And #2 it likely won't dial long distance calls - that is a relic from the past and really blows when you moved from out of town and don't want to change your phone number.

You can set up FreshBuzzer to call one or multiple phones - either sequentially or in parallel - without having to worry about local calling areas.

As great as call-forwarding to multiple phones is, it is even better when you don't even have to pick up the phone at all! FreshBuzzer offers different forms of unattended access depending on your personal preferences.

The most secure option are Secure Access Codes which are 4-8 digit codes that you can set up for friends, family, pet sitters, package deliveries - you name it! Additionally you can decide from when to when a code should be active, as well as specific recurring schedules such as Mondays & Wednesdays from 8-10am.

But what if you host a birthday party and don't want to tell everyone a specific code they might not remember? This is the perfect opportunity to enable Party Mode. Once you're ready for your guest, you can enable it for a short time frame such as 1 or 4 hours. During that time FreshBuzzer will automatically buzz in everyone who rings your buzzer and stop doing so when the time is up - no need to remember turning it off!

However, in some buildings the intercom doesn't have a key pad to enter a code - or the key pad gets disabled as soon as the call is dialed. In those cases you might want to consider Auto Buzz which is basically a permanent version of Party Mode. It is only recommended to enable this mode in a safe environment and when you also keep your apartment door locked.

Short-term rental (STR) properties have a high turnover and require very frequent updates to your access control. If you can't or don't want to give out keys and fobs, you can use FreshBuzzer and smart locks to grant your visitors access. FreshBuzzer can automatically create Secure Access Codes for your bookings from Airbnb & Co and even synchronize the codes with your smart locks. One common approach is to use the last 4 digits of a guests phone number. It means your automated messages can be generic and they won't forget the code. Access is limited to the time of their booking and can even facilitate early check-ins or late check-outs.
